Maritime UK Solent Breakfast Meeting - January 2022

To help people in our thriving maritime sector connect with other local businesses and find out more about what others are doing, we have established a programme of monthly breakfast meetings.

At our January breakfast meeting, we will be looking into the National Shipbuilding Strategy Refresh as we welcome Rod Paterson - Deputy Director of the National Shipbuilding Office. The National Shipbuilding Office was announced by the Secretary of State for Defence, in his role as the Government’s Shipbuilding Tsar, in September 2021 to oversee all of the Government's interests in UK shipbuilding, support growth in the sector, and work with industry to improve productivity and competitiveness.

We will also be hearing from Beverley Poole, Director of College Business Centres, based at Fareham College who is joining us to speak about the Skillslabs project. The project is supporting skills development in marine technology, net zero and digital futures as part of the Local Skills Improvement Plan trailblazers.
